How to choose WordPress hosting in the UK
A practical checklist for UK site owners: speed you can measure, renewal prices, backups, where the servers are and what support you get.
Most hosting comparisons rank by affiliate commission. This checklist ranks by what actually affects a UK WordPress site: how quickly it answers, what it costs in year two, and what happens when something breaks.
Step by step
Check the server and the cache
Ask which web server runs your site and whether it caches whole pages. Licensed LiteSpeed with LSCache answered a cached page in 0.8 ms on our fleet.
Read the renewal price, not the advert
Find the price after the first term and how many years you must prepay. Some hosts renew at five times the advertised price.
Ask where the servers are and what serves the UK
Find out where your site runs and whether a CDN with UK edge locations serves cached pages. Be wary of a UK flag on a page that never says where the data centre is.
Test backups and support before you need them
Use the free trial to restore a backup and ask support a real question. How they answer then is how they will answer during an outage.
Our own answers to each point are on our WordPress hosting page, including the things we do not do.
